Donavon Frankenreiter (born December 10, 1972 in Downey , California ) is an American surfer and musician .
Life
Before he made his living with music, Frankenreiter had been a professional surfer since he was 16. He made his debut as a musician at the age of 18, and in 2002 he signed a contract with Brushfire Records , the label of his longtime friend Jack Johnson . On his debut album Donavon Frankenreiter he played with the bassist Matt Grundy , the percussionist David Leach , the drummer and singer Dean Butterworth , the keyboardist Koool G. Murder , the guitarist and ukulele player Jack Johnson, the harmonica player and guitarist G. Love and the guitarist Rob Machadoown songs that are stylistically close to the pop music of the early 1970s. Before recording his second album, Move By Yourself , he left Brushfire Records and joined Lost Highway .
