Dong Fangzhuo ( Chinese  董方卓 , Pinyin Dǒng Fāngzhuó ) (born January 23, 1985 in Dalian ) is a Chinese football player .

Career

The striker began his professional football career in 2002 with Dalian Saidelong. Dong celebrated its first big appearance in 2000. He was one of the top players in a U-17 tournament in his hometown of Dalian . He signed his first professional contract in 2002 with Dalian Saidelong. After strong appearances in China's U-23 team and at his new club Dalian Shide, he moved to Manchester United in Europe in 2003 . The transfer fee was approximately £ 500,000. After signing the contract, it was difficult for Dong to play at ManUtd. He did not get a work permit, so the Chinese was awarded to Royal Antwerp in Belgium . At the beginning of the 2005/06 season he was brought back by Man United at short notice to accompany the men from Manchester on their Asia tour. It was there that he also made his unofficial debut for ManUtd. He was used against a Hong Kong election. After this trip to Asia, Dong played again for Royal Antwerp. From the 2006/07 season he was granted a work permit. Dong made his competitive debut on May 9, 2007 against Chelsea. He was a replacement in the Champions League a few times . Internationally, the Asian played for his home country China at the 2005 U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands . Dong came on three missions there. So far, Dong has played thirteen times for the Chinese national team and scored two goals.

Manchester United dissolved the contract with Dong on August 28, 2008 by mutual agreement. Since then, Dong has played with Dalian Haichang in his homeland . On February 23, 2010 he signed a 1.5 year contract with Legia Warsaw . However, he could not meet expectations and his contract was terminated on August 1, 2010. He then signed a contract with the Portuguese first division club Portimonense SC . However, he only made three league games in Portugal and finally moved to Armenia in 2011 to join MIKA Ashtarak .
