Doolow , also known as Dolo or Dolo Odo ( Somali : Doolow , Amharic : ዶሎ Dolo or ዶሎ ኦዶ Dolo Odo ), is a town on the border between the Gedo region in Somalia and the Liben zone of the Somali region in Ethiopia .

The place is at the point where the rivers Ganale (Ganaalee) and Dawa, coming from the southern Ethiopian highlands, unite to form Jubba . The Ethiopian part is on one side of the Jubba on a hill, the Somali part is on the other side.

Doolow was conquered by Ethiopia in 1910, which built a small military station. In October 1935 the place was devastated by Rodolfo Graziani's troops , who then marched against Negele Boran . In 1938, Doolow had 200 inhabitants, according to the Italian occupation forces . In the second half of the 20th century, Doolow housed an important Ethiopian garrison against the rebels of the Western Somali Liberation Front , and it also served as a base for Ethiopian interventions in Somalia. In the 1980s, camps for refugees from Somalia were set up in the area, which contributed to the growth of the place.

The Ethiopian census of 2005 gives Dolo 30,970 inhabitants. In 1997, according to Ethiopian data, of 20,762 residents, 97.97% were Somali , 0.65% (136) Amharen and 0.56% (117) Oromo .
