Doppelbock was a German punk band from Bad Homburg vor der Höhe .
history
The band was formed in 1984; the band name is said to be derived from the drink "that flowed freely at the first rehearsal".
The band's first release was a 1993 single on Magga Records, followed by an in-house EP in 1994 . The band's only studio album was released in 1995 via Neue Zeiten / Modern Music and was recorded mixed. In a meeting it was said that Doppelbock were “perhaps not the most original band under the punk rock sky”, but that with their “proletarian punk rock with slight rock'n'roll inserts” they would “enrich the collection with a re-release guarantee”. In the review of Intro , “flat texts” and “dull scrotum metal” were criticized and Prollhead and Eisenpimmel were cited as better references . During this time Andreas Geremia , singer from Tankard , was the manager of the band.
Then there was no further musical sign of life for ten years, until 2005, when everything was so beautifully colorful, another in-house production was published. Andreas Stappert from Rock Hard summarized the style with “musically often more rock than punk” and the quality as “rather conservative and sometimes annoying”.
Doppelbock was featured with a cover of the song Freibier on the bonus CD Best Case Scenario on the occasion of Tankard 's 25th anniversary .
