Prollhead was a German rock band from Hamburg-St. Pauli . She played hard rock in the style of the 1970s with ironic German lyrics.

Band history

Founding members of the group are Andi Schmidt (vocals), Ralf Junker (guitar), Marc Zimmermann (bass) and Holger Engellandt (drums). Juhnker left the band in 1993 and was replaced by Ronnie Henseler, who left in 1997, whereupon Zimmermann switched to guitar and Schmidt also took over bass. Engellandt was replaced by Rudi Naomi in 1996. The group also includes two background singers, the "Prollettes".

Their first record, Prall, sold over 10,000 copies and contained the video hit Rauch Auf Dem Wasser , a German version of the Deep Purple song Smoke On The Water . The band was very active in the nineties and released other records. They completed numerous tours, including in the support program of the Doctors , Peter & The Testtube Babies, the Local Heroes and the Dimple Minds , and performed among others. a. at Wacken Open Air . In the course of the success of Prollhead, similarly oriented groups such as Prolopower , Randalica or Aso Pauer formed .

In 1995 a tribute album was released on which numerous bands such as Abwärts , Slime , Extrabreit , Michy Reincke , Lucilectric or members of the Doctors covered Prollhead songs. Prollhead himself contributed the song Radio Brennt for the doctors tribute album Götterdämmerung .

Apart from an appearance in the FC St. Pauli stadium on the occasion of a charity gala in favor of the club in 2004 and a short appearance in the film Der Deichking (2006), which was cut out for copyright reasons, the group has not appeared since 2001 .
