Dora Bruck-Heinz

Dora Bruck-Heinz (born March 23, 1925 in Vienna ; † March 31, 2011 there ), née Bruck, was an Austrian art historian .

Life

Dora Bruck studied during the Second World War at the University of Vienna Art History with Professors Karl M. Swoboda and Vladimir Sas-Zaloziecky . She received her doctorate in 1948 with a dissertation on the Byzantine influence on Salzburg illumination in the 12th century. From 1947 she worked at the Art History Institute of the University of Vienna and in 1949 joined the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna as a curator . Here Dora Heinz concentrated on researching the museum's important textile collection. In 1976 she resigned due to illness and published numerous scientific works with which she established her international reputation as a specialist in textile art .

She was married to the Viennese art historian Günther Heinz since 1951 . The couple had three daughters.
