Dora Hennig

Dora Hennig (actually Dorothea ) (born June 1, 1902 in Mainz ; † March 11, 1989 there ) was a German housewife and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Hennig attended primary school in Mainz and then worked as a domestic help. During the First World War she worked in the armaments industry and then until 1936 in the metal industry as well as a housewife. In 1925 she became a member of the German Metalworkers' Association. During the Second World War she was conscripted for the Reichsbahn.

She had been a member of the SPD since 1927. From 1946 to 1969 she was a member of the Mainz city council. In 1959 she became a member of the SPD executive committee Rheinhessen and chairwoman of the SPD women's association in the Rheinhessen district. In 1951 she was elected to the second Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate , to which she belonged for an electoral term until 1955. In the state parliament she was a member of the committee for social policy and questions of displaced persons and the petitions committee.
