Dorette Deutsch (born November 22, 1953 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German author and journalist.

Life

Dorette Deutsch studied German , Slavic and philosophy in Heidelberg and Munich . Since 1981 she lives between Munich and Italy, first as a DAAD - Lecturer and Lecturer in German language and literature at the University of Bologna , in parallel began her journalistic activity on cultural policy issues from Italy. Since 1994 she has lived on the Ligurian coast.

In her work, Dorette Deutsch deals with socially critical content and above all with new forms of living in old age, cultural-political issues in her adopted country of Italy and with the reality in Afghanistan.

Her gaze is always behind the scenes and focused on meeting people, in whose lives she often immerses herself for several months during her research . Volunteering

Together with the Afghan Qamar Karzai, she founded the “Yalda” circle of friends, which enables young women in Kabul and the Afghan hinterland to learn to read and write.

In the Italian mountain village of Tiedoli, she volunteers to implement this innovative elderly care concept. This project made important suggestions for intergenerational housing projects in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Awards

Award of the European Journalist Prize "Lorenzo Natali" for human rights in 2000 for the article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung: "The sad brides of Zadrima" about trafficking in women in Europe.

Culture Prize of the city of Borgotaro in 2012 for the journalistic work on the subject of age and the pilot project “Le case di Tiedoli” (see “Nice prospects for old age,” Piper) and the commitment to human and women's rights.
