The village fountain in Hanover is a fountain built at the end of the 20th century with animal figures typical of a farm . The location of the facility donated by citizens with sculptures by the Hanoverian artist Bernd Maro is the historic village center in what is now the Groß-Buchholz district on Pinkenburger Strasse .

History and description

The village fountain was created on the initiative of the Pinkenburger Kreis in connection with the creation of a community space in the former village of Groß-Buchholz. A total of around 30,000 euros in private donations from people from Groß-Buchholz were raised for this purpose. Part of the redesigned square was the village fountain, which the Hanoverian sculptor Bernd Maro originally designed under the working title “Bickering at the fountain”. At first, a barking dog formed the opposite pole of the cat hunching on the stone stele.

In addition to the artist's signature Maros on the goat's udder, the year “[19] 97” can be found, but the fountain system was not put into operation until 1999. From the beginning it was planned that a push button on the approximately 3 meter high masonry stele should donate drinking water after it was activated. In 2013, however, this was temporarily not possible due to damage caused by vandalism .

The animals in the village well include a cat, a drinking goat, a sleeping duck and a sow with her piglets.
