The church

The Birkhausen village church is located in the Birkhausen district of the Harth-Pöllnitz community in the Greiz district in Thuringia . It belongs to the regional parish Tälerdörfer in the Eisenberg parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The village of Birkhausen was first mentioned on February 19, 1286 in the Naumburg II 545 document book. In the village, the church stands high above the village on the site of a Romanesque chapel . In 1741 this chapel was converted into the current village church.

The five altar figures date from the 16th century and are very well preserved. They were restored in 1995. In 1998, the parish renovated and painted the church inside and outside on its own initiative.
