history

The brick building was built in the neo-Gothic style from 1889 to 1890 . It replaced a half-timbered building that had been built in 1677 and had become dilapidated, in which the large bell from 1499 and a small bell from 1520 were still preserved. The new church was planned in 1887 by District Building Inspector Domeier. The demolition of the old building began in 1888. In 1889 the foundation stone of the new building was laid and the sacred building, completed in 1890, was consecrated on January 15, 1891. In 1942, the big bell was brought to be melted down for armaments purposes during the Second World War . It returned unharmed in 1948 and was installed in the tower. In 1994 the organ was renovated and in 1998 the bell cage was repaired .

On both sides of the entrance portal there are memorial stones consecrated on March 19, 1922 for those who died in the First World War . They were created by the Beeskow sculptor Max Schaefer based on designs and models from the Berlin building councilor Wagner. The rectangular portal stones made of Warthauer sandstone with a slightly tapered tip are about 2 m high and 60 cm wide. In the upper third they are adorned with elaborate ornaments.

architecture

The rectangular nave with a gable roof has three pointed arched windows on the north and south sides with round windows underneath . On its east side there is a pentagonal drawn-in apse with pointed arched stained-glass windows on three sides. In the multi-storey, recessed west tower with a square base hang two bells, the older of which dates from 1499. At the top of the tower there is a ball, a cross and a weather valve showing the year 1882.

Furnishing

West gallery with organ

The interior of the church comes from the time it was built. The sanctuary is three steps higher. The top of the stone altar is supported by four pillars. On the right, at the beginning of the apse arch, there is the wooden pulpit with a polygonal pulpit that is supported by a post. A round stone baptism stands in front of the pulpit. On the west side of the building there is an unmounted wooden gallery supported by posts. The church has a boarded beam ceiling.

organ

The Bornow organ stands on the west gallery. It was created in 1890 by the Potsdam organ builder Carl Eduard Gesell . It has a manual , a pedal and ten stops . The well-preserved slider chest instrument is played regularly. Since the prospect pipes had to be handed in for war purposes in 1917, they were later replaced by zinc pipes.
