The Evangelical Lutheran village church in Exdorf is located in the Exdorf district of the Grabfeld municipality in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

history

A wooden church was mentioned in 1375. The noble family of those von Exdorf exercised the patronage rule . In 1429 the village had an independent parish , to which the neighboring town of Obendorf belonged. The last of the noble family from Exdorf was Georg von Exdorf , who was also a pastor around 1438 .

The current church was consecrated on November 14, 1730. Two hundred years later it was extensively restored inside. Another interior renovation took place in 1994, and the ceiling painting of the Ascension was also restored.

In 2004 the organ created by Theodor Kühn from Schleusingen in 1894 was repaired again.
