Obendorf is a district of the municipality Grabfeld in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia .

Obendorf is located away from the main connections and is covered by traffic on Kreisstraße 57. In Exdorf there is a connection to the state road 1131 . The corridor is trough-like on a plateau, surrounded by wooded hills and mountains of the Rhön .

history

The village was first mentioned on December 31, 1306. In terms of lordship, the place in the Themar office initially belonged to the county of Henneberg , after 1583 to various Saxon duchies and from 1826 to 1918 to Saxony-Meiningen . In 1920 he came to the state of Thuringia . In 1603 the residents built a chapel. In 1843 they built the parish hall with forge and oven.
