Exdorf is a village in the southern district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia . Since December 1, 2007, the formerly politically independent municipality has been part of the Grabfeld municipality .
geography
Exdorf is the southeastern part of the municipality. The place is on the upper reaches of the Jüchse , which flows west of the place , a southern tributary of the Werra . The village of Obendorf, located about 1 km to the southeast, was part of the Exdorf community until 2007 and is now part of the Exdorf district within the Grabfeld community.
history
Exdorf was first mentioned under the name Eggisdorph in 951 . In terms of lordship, the place in the Themar office initially belonged to the county of Henneberg , after 1583 to various Saxon duchies and from 1826 to 1918 to Saxony-Meiningen . In 1920 he came to the state of Thuringia . Exdorf was persecuted by witches from 1568 to 1614 : three women and one man got into witch trials .
