Building description and history

The Frauenhorster village church is a hall building made of lawn iron stone with a straight east end and a gable roof . The origin is dated to the 14th century . To the west of the nave there was originally a wooden bell tower. After restorations had already taken place on the building in 1862 and 1900, the wooden tower was finally torn down and, from 1910 to 1912, master bricklayer Arthur Otto from Herzberg built a pulled-in, massive west tower as a brick structure, with an octagonal bell storey and has a slate-covered onion cap.

The interior of the church is characterized by a flat wooden beam ceiling, a floor lined with sandstone slabs and galleries to the north and south. The furnishings of the church include an altarpiece from the 16th century and a pulpit from the second half of the 17th century.

In the church there is also an organ built in 1836 by Delitzsch organ builder JCF Lochmann. This organ has a mechanical drawer , a manual and 10 stops .

The structure also has two bells, the first of which was created in the Apolda bell foundry Gebrüder Ulrich in 1884 . The other bell is the former Kaxdorf school bell. This comes from the second half of the 19th century.
