Göhren village church

The village church Göhren is a native of the 20th century village church in the village of Göhren on the island of Ruegen .

history

In 1913 Göhren became an independent parish; today Göhren belongs to the parish of Groß Zicker . In 1929 the foundation stone was laid for a separate church : the hall church was consecrated on May 16, 1930.

Some changes have been made in the Church in recent years. A community room was set up behind the gallery and the sanctuary was redesigned in 2006.

Exterior

The two tile-roofed church towers can be seen everywhere on Mönchgut due to their elevated position . The towers are decorated with semicircular windows. The nave of the hall building has a single nave .

Immediately west of the church is the prehistoric barrow Speckbusch .

Furnishing

The furnishings include stained glass panes in the chancel. The crucifixion group on the altar was made in Northern Italy in Ferdinand Stuflesser's workshop. It shows Maria and Johannes in the Mönchguter costume .

The votive ship comes from Göhrener Paul Strübing, who built the barque “Seeadler” back in 1913 and gave it to the church after its completion.

The four glass windows in the chancel are by the Meiningen graphic artist Matthes.

organ

The digital concert organ was built into the church in 2002.

local community

The Evangelical parish in Groß Zicker has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Stralsund parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
