The Protestant village church Hochstedt stood in the district Hochstedt of the city of Nordhausen in Thuringia .

history

The church , built in 1831, had more than 100 seats. In 1958 there were 80 members of the parish when Pastor Lerchner was given the pastor's position in Hochstedt. At that time, the beams of the load-bearing roof structure were attacked and destroyed by the house buck . Three of the four corner pillars tilted outwards due to subsidence. In 1964 the building was closed by the building authorities because it was dilapidated and there was a risk of collapse. For lack of money and material for a general renovation, the believers were referred to the parish church in Nordhausen-Salza . In 1965 the village church was demolished.

In 1968 the faithful and the residents built a small chapel with a belfry next to it . The construction costs of 22,000 GDR Marks were largely raised through donations from the community members. On June 30, 1968 the chapel was inaugurated by Provost Hoffmann from Nordhausen. On May 9, 1993, the community celebrated the 25th anniversary of the chapel in the large festival tent together with the partner community Altenbochum .
