The Protestant village church of Horba is located in the Horba district of the small town of Königsee on a once cleared high plateau of the Thuringian Forest in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

The village church in Horba was built between 1667 and 1668. It could not be determined whether there was a predecessor. In 1968 this village church was extensively restored. It is on the list of cultural monuments in Königsee with its furnishings and the cemetery as well as the enclosure and the monument to the fallen soldiers .

There are two bells in the church , one from 1668 and one from after World War II . The font dates from the 16th century and was made of limestone . The altar was created in the first half of the 17th century, the pulpit altar also dates from this period. The organ is the first work of the organ builder Johann Friedrich Schulze from Paulinzella .
