Linden village church
The listed Evangelical Lutheran village church Linden with adjoining cemetery , former school and outbuildings is located in the Straufhain district of Linden , district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia, above a mighty linden tree on which the street village narrows.
Originally a chapel is said to have stood at the current location . The thick walls of the sacristy and choir , which supports the church tower , give an idea of old age. In 1667 the chapel was increased by two storeys in oak framework to form the tower.
The equipment is simple. The unpainted wooden fixtures and the galleries stand out from the red stone tiles of the floor . The organ from 1860 is the work of Schmiedefeld's Schmidt workshop.
