The village church in Meetschow is a Protestant chapel. The chapel parish belongs to the parish of St. Georg in Gartow in the Lüchow-Dannenberg parish . It was probably built in 1731 on the northwestern edge of the village. Its current appearance goes back to a renovation in 1864.

description

When it was built, the chapel formed the north-western flank of the village, which was grouped around a crossroads . A simple hall building was created on a rectangular floor plan , which ends at the top with a gable roof . A structure of brick framework forms the outer walls. On the west side there is a square ridge turret with a tent roof and cross. A small sacristy is built on the east side . The chapel is accessed from the western side.

The interior is spanned by a flat wooden beam ceiling. On the west side there is a gallery that carries the organ, on the east side there is a pulpit altar. The furnishings come from the time it was built.

The Gartow parish is suing the chapel community against further exploration of the Gorleben salt dome for the final disposal of nuclear waste.
