The church

The village church Nöbdenitz is located in the district Nöbdenitz of the town of Schmölln in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

history

The village church of Nöbdenitz was first mentioned in a document in 1313. On October 9, 1342 it was transferred to the Cronschwitz Monastery . It was consecrated to Mary, Our Lady .

In 1685 the church received an octagonal tower tower with a double hood for the tower, which had to be repaired again in 1748. In 1878 the tower had to be braced with a wooden frame above the apse , and the largest of the three bells was removed and sold to relieve the tower and the bell stalls. The statics for this building were probably wrongly calculated. In 1893 the church was completely rebuilt . The renovation began on July 1, 1894, but the church was almost completely demolished. There were only the long walls and the wall of the manor .

On July 26th, 1896, the church was officially opened. In 1897, however, the pastor criticized the lacquered benches for still sticking.

The church was extensively restored in the 1990s; the rectory buildings were restored until 2014

The church is located on the Thuringian chain of cities and has been included in the directory of cycle path churches .
