Village church of Prößdorf
The Evangelical Lutheran village church Prößdorf is located in the Prößdorf district of the city of Lucka in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .
history
The village church of Prößdorf was built in 1885. Little information is available about its early days.
The following is reported: The church was very neglected in the GDR era . It was in a bad state of construction and was declared a ruin . Therefore, after the fall of the Wall in Lucka, the decision was made to save the church in a new way.
The new way
- The village church of Prößdorf is used for civil weddings, so it becomes a wedding church .
- In the mid to late 1990s, the renovation was largely carried out with state funds. The client was the city of Lucka.
- A contract between the city administration and the parish allows it to be used for both secular and church events.
The result
At first glance, the house is a place of worship, but then upholstered chairs invite you to linger. The pulpit and the altar have been replaced by tables and a Blüthner grand piano is in the room. You don't think you're in a church, but in a ballroom.
In 2010 alone, 39 civil marriages took place. But there are also festive worship services, church weddings and baptisms. There is a small bell in the tower .
