Rodleben village church
The village church Rodleben is the Protestant church of the Rodleben part of the city of Dessau-Roßlau in Saxony-Anhalt .
Architecture and history
The church was built from field stones and its core goes back to the late Romanesque . The rectangular choir is drawn into the nave. A semicircular apse , which also has a Romanesque window, forms the eastern end . On the north side of the nave there was originally a portal and a priest gate. In 1626 the church was badly damaged in the course of a battle for bridges over the Elbe . The church was rebuilt by 1700. Here, one was on the west side ridge turret in framework construction placed. Its west wall is massive. In addition, windows designed as segment arcs were created .
The interior of the church is occupied by a hall with a flat ceiling. There is a horseshoe gallery. In 1972 a pulpit altar that had existed in the church and a baptismal font were removed from the church. The Romanesque church window in the apse was given new colored windows by Thomas Kuzio in 2010 . The organ of the church has 13 registers, is two-manual and was restored in 1994.
A church bell was cast by Brant Beddingk back in 1516 . The second existing bell was built in 1999 and is a foundation of the village of Rodleben.
An extensive renovation of the building fabric took place between 2002 and 2005. In 2002 a church building association was founded to support the measures. In particular, the building was secured against rising damp and a path was built around the church. The roof turret was repaired in 2004 and a new belfry was installed at the same time . The interior was then renovated between 2010 and 2012. In 2012, the church received a new baptism, a new pulpit and a new altar, which were made from the wood of the Mühlstedt bell chair. New chandeliers, seating and a new lectern followed in 2013.
In the local register of monuments , the church is registered as an architectural monument under registration number 094 41337 .
