The Protestant village church Wergzahna in the municipality of Niedergörsdorf in the Wergzahna district in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg is located in the southern part of the village and is a listed building. The church in Rahnsdorf had been the mother church since at least 1528. The sovereign had the right of patronage.

church

The church was likely built in the late 12th century. It is therefore one of the oldest churches in Lower Fläming . The stone masonry is still irregular, so that it is assumed that the church was built before other Fläming churches. The church was destroyed in the Thirty Years War and then rebuilt. The weather vane bears the year 1686, probably the year of the reconstruction. The roof structure dates from this time. The church was renovated from 1864 to 1865, creating the large arched windows. In 1934/1935 the half-timbered tower was rebuilt during a renovation. The tower has a curved tent roof. In the 1970s, the painting from 1892 was removed. Before 2000 the roof was re-covered and the tower renewed.

The church is a rectangular hall with an apse that is only slightly retracted . Inside there is a wooden ceiling. The galleries were originally on three sides of the church, today there is only a gallery on the west side. The parish chairs consist of two blocks and are kept simple.

Furnishing

The altarpiece is from the end of the 17th century. The wooden top consists of an oval predella with an image of the Last Supper and an image of the Crucifixion in the main field. On the right and left there are columns, on the top there is a round arch. There is a lamb of God above the arch . The altar substructure probably dates from the Middle Ages. On the north side of the apse there is a sacrament niche, probably from the 15th century.

The baptism was probably cast from zinc in the second half of the 19th century. The pulpit comes as the altarpiece of the time end of the 17th century. The polygonal basket stands on a Corinthian column. There are tendril bars at the entrance. The organ was built in 1853 by Baumgarten from Zahna. The organ prospectus is structured in three parts and simply. There is a crucifix from the 15th century above the apse. A Madonna also dates from the 15th century. An old chandelier is in the tower.
