The village church in the Cottbus district of Willmersdorf is a Protestant church building.

history

The church was built in 1938 according to the plans of the architect Hans Palm. A renovation took place from 1992 to 1996, including the installation of an electrical system and a bench heater . In 1998 the tower was covered with copper . In the same year the church got a new plaster and a new coat of paint . The last major modernization took place in 2015.

Building description

The building is a brick building with a high pitched roof . The nave walls are structured by high windows and protruding clinker strips. A five -story tower with two-story extensions, the upper floors of which were designed as half-timbered buildings with brick infills, was placed in front of the north facade . The top of the tower is a closed, drawn-in pyramid helmet with a gilded cross and a weather vane , which shows a farmer with a pipe behind a plow on one side and a Germanic sun wheel on the other. Inside the church building there is a gallery on the north wall . The apse has a round window depicting a man sowing seeds. The entrance door, window frame and roof shape reveal expressionist style elements. The building is a historical monument.
