Dorin Genpo (born April 25, 1955 as Hans Rudolf Döring) is a Zen priest and founder of the Buddhist center Bodaisan Shoboji . He was a board member and honorary councilor of the German Buddhist Union and Vice-President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists . In July 2017, he was sentenced to seven years and nine months in prison by the Augsburg Regional Court for the sexual abuse of children in more than 25 cases.

Live and act

In 1977, the then police officer Rudolf Döring began to practice Zen . In 1985, after several stays in Japan, he became a student of Hozumi Gensho . In 1988 he founded the Hakuin-Zen-Gemeinschaft eV in Germany. In 1990 he was ordained a priest in Japan and was given the name Dorin Genpo. In 1991 he entered the Zen monastery Empukuji in Kyoto and became a student of Nishikata Tansetzu Roshi. He received formal training as a priest and returned to Germany with a teaching permit, where he founded the Bodaisan Shoboji temple in Dinkelscherben in 1992 . As a Zen priest, Rudolf Döring bears the title Oshō .

Genpo Dorin was a member of the board and honorary member of the Council of the German Buddhist Union , Vice President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists and worked as part of the training for Buddhist religion teachers in Germany. He also carried out trips by European Buddhists to pilgrimage sites in Japan. In addition, he brought masters of the tea path and the brush path to Germany. In the field of interreligious dialogue , Dorin Genpo has been involved in the Christian-Buddhist dialogue on the Buddhist side for many years .

In addition to his Buddhist activities, Rudolf Genpo Döring was politically active in the SPD . He was a local board member of the party and council. “The Buddhist is no stranger to Augsburg. He regularly took part in the 'Round Table of Religions'. The city even owes him a Buddhist Peace Prize from South Korea. ”As a committed Buddhist , he regularly commented on political and social issues. Child Sexual Abuse and Judgment

In July 2016 Rudolf Genpo Doering came in detention because of a urgent suspicion of sexual abuse of children was. He was charged with "almost 30 cases, five of which the public prosecutor classifies as serious child sexual abuse." In June 2017, he made a comprehensive confession at the Augsburg Regional Court . He looked for his victims between four and thirteen years of age among young people who consulted him as a priest, in a refugee home and in his family. In addition, around 2,800 files of child pornography were found in his possession. He also took some pornographic photos of his victims. In July 2017, the Augsburg court sentenced him to seven years and nine months in prison.
