The Dorint Kongress hotel Chemnitz is a 3- star hotel in Chemnitz. It is centrally located in the city center of Chemnitz and is the tallest building in the city with a height of 97 m and 29 upper floors.

history

The building was planned from 1969 to 1974 as the Interhotel “Kongress” by the architect Rudolf Weiser in what was then Karl-Marx-Stadt in the Brutalist style and constructed using a sliding construction method and partly clad with a curtain wall. After the German reunification it belonged to the French chain Accor and there to the group of the Mercure Hotels .

After that, the hotel was sold several times, but operated under the old name until the end of 2017. The hotel has been operated by Dorint since 2018 and is to be renovated in the course of the year. Only the top seven floors are still used as a hotel with a total of 101 rooms. The further use of the remaining floors is unclear. The Panorama Restaurant on the 26th floor reopened in 2018 after it had been closed in 2014.
