Doris Janshen

Doris Janshen (born June 26, 1946 in Krefeld ; † February 17, 2009 ) was a German sociologist.

Life

Doris Janshen studied humanities in Freiburg and Berlin , then sociology and philosophy of religion . In 1980 she received her doctorate with a sociological thesis on communication technology in everyday life at the Free University of Berlin . In addition, she worked as a journalist for Sender Freie Berlin .

In 1989 she received a call to the University of Duisburg-Essen in Essen for sociology with a focus on women's studies and was founding director of the Essen College for Gender Studies , which was founded in 1998 .

Her work focused on science and technology policy and women's studies. Research topics were military sociology , the sociology of human-animal communication and the criticism of civilization from a women's political perspective.
