Dorjee Tsawa

Dorjee "Dodo" Tsawa (born August 4, 1976 in Horgen ) is a Swiss football coach and former football player of Tibetan origin.

Career as a player

Club career

The defensive midfielder began playing football at FC Horgen in 1982 ; In 1986 Tsawa joined the youth department of FC St. Gallen , where he became a professional in 1995. During the winter break of the 1999/2000 season, he moved to FC Zurich , with whom he won the Swiss Cup in 2000 after losing the penalty shootout final against FC Lausanne-Sport in 1998 with FC St. Gallen . In Zurich, however, Tsawa only stayed half a season before joining AC Bellinzona . In summer 2001 he moved to Neuchâtel Xamax . After the midfielder left the club after the 2002/03 season, he spent seven months looking for a club.

Finally, the Challenge League club FC Schaffhausen signed the defensive player; after the 2003/04 season, the club rose to the Super League . During the first training session before the 2006/07 season, the club announced that Tsawa would be planning without him in the future; his expiring contract was not extended.

After he couldn't find a new club at first, he trained with the second team of FC St. Gallen to keep himself fit. He suffered a meniscus injury that was followed by two operations. Then he had to end his career.

Dorjee Tsawa played 41 times in the Challenge League , scoring three goals. In the top Swiss league, he scored eight goals in 234 games.

National team career

During his time at FC St. Gallen, Tsawa played from the U-15 to the U-20 in the youth national teams of the Swiss Football Association . However , he was never appointed to the senior national team of Switzerland .

Although he had never visited Tibet , the home of his ancestors, he played at the 2006 FIFI Wild Cup in Hamburg-St. Pauli as the only professional for the Tibetan selection .

Career as a coach

Between 2004 and 2005 he completed a distance learning course to become a sports manager , which he completed with a diploma. He had already passed his football coach C diploma in 2003, followed by the UEFA B diploma in 2005. From 2005 to 2006 he trained as a fitness trainer, during his injury break in 2007 he attended numerous advanced specialist courses. In 2008 he completed his training as a rehab trainer. In 2009 he completed his training as a fitness coach, and he also obtained the UEFA A diploma as a football coach.

From 2007 to 2011 Dorjee Tsawa worked at FC Zurich as a youth coach for the lower areas. In St. Gallen he worked as a self-employed fitness trainer. At the same time, he also promoted talent for football players by implementing targeted promotional measures in individual or group training in consultation with the youth coaches of the clubs.

From February 17, 2011 to June 3, 2017, he coached FC Zurich Women . During his tenure, the team won 5 championship titles in a row and was cup winners four times.

For the 2017/18 season he took over the U21 team of FC St.Gallen. For the 2018/19 season, he switched back to FC Zurich, where he took on the role of Head of Condition at the FCZ Academy.
