Herbert Krejci
Herbert Krejci (born September 13, 1922 in Vienna ; † August 10, 2016 there ) was an Austrian journalist . From 1980 to 1992 he was General Secretary of the Association of Austrian Industrialists .
Life
Krejci came from a middle-class family and spent his childhood in his parents' house on the Hohe Warte in Vienna. A Wehrmacht officer during World War II, he came into contact with American occupation officers in the fall of 1945 as a porter in the Vienna Hotel Auge Gottes (9th, Nussdorfer Strasse) in what was then the US sector of Vienna . He was hired as a journalist for the US intelligence service. As a result, Krejci became the foreign policy editor of the American occupation newspaper Wiener Kurier , which passed into private Austrian ownership in 1954 and is still published as a courier today. Since autumn 1954, Hans Dichand was the new editor-in-chief, 1959 re-founder of the Kronen-Zeitung , which is also published to this day , his superior.
In 1956 he moved to the press department of the Federation of Industrialists, which was then led by Hans Lauda , and in 1961 was appointed editor-in-chief of their magazine Die Industrie under President Franz Josef Mayer-Gunthof .
From 1980 to 1992 Krejci acted under the presidents Christian Beurle and Heinz Kessler as general secretary of the association, which is active in Austrian domestic politics as a non-partisan voice. According to Hans Rauscher , Krejci had a sharp joke that often did not care about sensitivities, not even those of the members of the Federation of Industrialists or the senior men of the ÖVP .
Krejci publicly distanced himself from the Federal Government, Schüssel I , installed with the political change in February 2000 , the first black and blue coalition government of the Second Republic .
Krejci was chairman of the state-dominated composite group and lecturer at the Vienna University of Economics . He was awarded the professional title of Professor by the Federal President . In 2001 he received the Concordia Prize for his journalistic life's work.
