Hans Lauda

Hans Lauda , from 1916 to 1919 Ritter von Lauda , (born March 25, 1896 in Vienna ; † January 21, 1974 ibid) was an Austrian industrialist .

Life

Hans Lauda was the son of the hydraulic engineering technician and kk section head Ernst Lauda , who was ennobled in 1916 by Emperor Franz Joseph I as a "Knight of". After the end of the monarchy in Austria-Hungary , the parliament of German Austria decided on April 3, 1919 to abolish the nobility. As a result of this nobility annulment law , Ernst Ritter von Lauda and his descendants also lost the right to use their titles.

After studying law and subsequent doctorate to become a Dr. jur. began Hans Lauda its activities in 1923 with the Veitscher Magnesitwerken . In 1925 he became commercial director of what would later become the Austro-American Magnesit AG . After he became general director of the Veitscher Magnesitwerke in 1937 , he was relieved of his post a year later after the annexation of Austria , but was reinstated immediately after the end of the Second World War .

In 1946 he was a co-founder of the Association of Austrian Industrialists and its first president until 1960. From 1956 to 1974 he was also President of the Austrian Red Cross . On the occasion of his 65th birthday, the Red Cross established the Dr. Hans Lauda Foundation , which awards awards for special achievements within the Red Cross.

Hans Lauda was the brother of the medical doctor Ernst Lauda and the grandfather of the racing driver Niki Lauda .
