Dorle Gribl

Dorle Gribl is an art historian and non-fiction author . Her books deal mainly with buildings and the history of various parts of Munich .

Life

Dorle Gribl graduated from high school in Icking in the Isar valley. She then completed her training as a librarian at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek and worked in this profession. When her son became self-employed, she reoriented herself at the age of 43 and studied art history , psychology and folklore at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1998 she completed her doctorate in art history on the subject: '' The villa colonies of Jakob Heilmann and the companies associated with him in Munich and the surrounding area '', for which she merged architectural history with company history and social history . Her doctorate was awarded the University Prize of the City of Munich in 2000.

Since then she has published about local history in the south of Munich with a focus on the settlement areas of the city expansion around 1900 and the time of National Socialism. For the Isartalverein she wrote the chronicle for the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the association in 2002 "For the Isartal", she is an elected member of the association's working committee and responsible for public relations and guided tours.

She cites the Berlin architecture historian Julius Posener as a role model because he "[was] a person who got to the bottom of things, showed devotion to his subject and, as a university lecturer, inflamed history lovers."

Dorle Gribl is a member of the SPD and sits on the board of the Barbara Wengeler Foundation for the promotion of young scientists in the area of ​​networking and the exchange between philosophy and neurosciences.

Dorle Gribl is married to the architect Jörg Gribl . The couple live in Solln and have an adult son.
