Dorothee Dzwonnek

Dorothee Dzwonnek (born September 12, 1957 in Gelsenkirchen ) was Secretary General of the German Research Foundation (DFG) from September 1, 2007 to November 12, 2018 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Essen in 1976 , she studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum . She completed her studies in 1986 with the second state examination. From 1986 to 1987 she was a research assistant at the chair for German legal history and civil law with Paul Mikat at the Ruhr University in Bochum. From November 1987 she was employed in the Ministry of Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , most recently as head of department. From April 1996 to October 2000 she was Chancellor of the University of Dortmund . This was followed by a position as head of department in the Ministry for School, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (November 2000 to September 2002). Since October 1st, 2002 Dorothee Dzwonnek has been Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Forschungszentrum Jülich .

Offices

On May 18, 2006 Dorothee Dzwonnek was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for Science, Further Education, Research and Culture in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Ministry was later merged with the Ministry of Education, Women and Youth and renamed the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Culture.

Since September 2007 she has been Secretary General of the German Research Foundation (DFG). In November 2018 Dorothee Dzwonnek announced her departure from the service as General Secretary on November 12, 2018. Since April 2019, she has been a member of the Executive Board of the University Hospital Bonn as Commercial Director .

In June 2017, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate appointed her honorary professor at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer .
