Dorotheendorf ( Polish : Dorota ) was a place in Upper Silesia . It was one of several places from which the rural community of Zabrze emerged in 1905 , which was renamed Hindenburg OS in 1915 and received town charter in 1922 .

history

The Dorotheendorf colony was founded in 1774 as part of the Frederician colonization by Freiherr Matthias von Wilczek. The colony was named after the baron's wife. In 1852 there was a major fire in Dorotheendorf. The Guido mine was opened in 1855 or 1872 . In 1871 the place was connected to the facilities of the Zabrze gas works. With the creation of the Zabrze district in 1873, Dorotheendorf came from the Beuthen district to the Zabrze district.

In 1900 Dorotheendorf had 10,704 inhabitants. On October 10, 1900, the historicist Anna Church was inaugurated by the Prince-Bishop of Wroclaw, Cardinal Georg Kopp. The foundation stone of the Catholic Church was laid on September 5, 1897. In 1901 the elementary school was opened on Koloniestrasse.

With effect from April 1, 1905, the Dorotheendorf community was merged with the Alt-Zabrze and Klein-Zabrze communities and the Zabrze manor district and colony C (from the Zaborze community ) to form the new community of Zabrze. When Hindenburg became a town on October 1, 1922, the town became part of its city center. The former Dorotheendorf formed from then on Hindenburg-Süd .
