Zaborze is a district of the city of Zabrze (German Hindenburg OS ). Today the place is divided into the districts of Zaborze Północ (Zaborze-North) and Zaborze Południe (Zaborze-South).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1290 as "Sabors" .

In 1829 Zaborze had 345 inhabitants. The Redenhütte was built in 1855 and existed until 1904. In 1873 Zaborze came from the district of Beuthen to the district of Zabrze when it came into being .

In 1890 the place had 16,232 inhabitants and in 1905 25,966 inhabitants. On April 1, 1905, Colony C of the municipality of Zaborze came to the newly founded municipality of Zabrze.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 8,851 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 6051 for Poland. Zaborze remained with the German Empire . In 1925 there were 29,208 inhabitants in Zaborze. Of these, 27,116 were Catholic, 1,815 Protestant, 107 Jewish and 36 belonged to another Christian denomination.

With the dissolution of the district of Hindenburg OS , the rural community of Zaborze and consequently the place Zaborze was incorporated into the city of Hindenburg OS on January 1, 1927. The wooden Hedwig Church was built from 1928 to 1929.

In the spring of 1945, Zaborze came under Polish administration together with the previously German city of Hindenburg and became part of the Silesian Voivodeship. Part of the population was expelled, the rest of the population was able to stay or was prevented from being resettled. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship.

The successful Zaborzer club was the 1910 founded SC Preußen 1910 Zaborze . He played in the top Upper Silesian football league and Gauliga Silesia . With the conquest of the territories by the Red Army in early 1945 , the association expired.
