Francisco Dosamantes

Francisco Dosamantes (born October 4, 1911 in Mexico City , † 1986 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican artist .

After studying art at the Academia de San Carlos , he became a member of the artist group "30-30" in 1928. Later he was a member of the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (LEAR). In 1937, together with Ángel Bracho , Alberto Beltrán , Leopoldo Méndez , Raúl Anguiano and other artists, he founded the Taller de Gráfica Popular (workshop of folk graphic artists , TGP). In 1945 he took over the management of the Joaquín Clausell artist workshop in Dosamantes . In 1947 he left the Taller de Grafica Popular and an exhibition of his works took place in New York . In 1948 he was involved in the establishment of the Sociedad para el Impulso de las Artes Plásticas (Society for the Impulse of Plastic Art) and in 1952 in the establishment of the Frente Nacional de Artes Plásticas (National Front of the Plastic Arts, FNAP). From 1964 to 1967 he was again in the Taller de Grafica Popular.
