dotnetpro is a German trade journal for professional software developers who develop applications based on Microsoft's .NET platform. It is published monthly by Verlag Neue Mediengesellschaft Ulm mbH with a CD or DVD .

history

In 2002 dotnetpro was founded by redtec publishing GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Süddeutscher Verlag . dotnetpro was created as a merger of three publications: basicpro, System Journal and VBA Magazin.

basicpro was founded and published in 1992 by Arne Steingräber. basicpro was a monthly magazine that provided information for Visual Basic developers. System Journal was a trade magazine for C / C ++ developers who developed on the Microsoft platform. Bimonthly publication frequency. VBA-Magazin was founded by Cordula Lochmann. It was a specialist magazine for VBA developers ( Visual Basic for Applications ), i.e. for Microsoft's Office products . Bimonthly publication frequency.

The name dotnetpro is based on the .NET platform from Microsoft, which was just released at the time, and on basicpro. In 2002 5, 2003 9, 2004 10 and 2005 11 issues of dotnetpro appeared. Dotnetpro has been coming monthly since 2006.

In 2006 the Süddeutsche Verlag sold dotnetpro to Neue Mediengesellschaft Ulm mbH. In 2010 dotnetpro organized two multi-day dotnetpro.powerdays in Munich , where interested parties could take part in workshops on software development .

Content

dotnetpro provides information for developers who develop software based on Microsoft's .NET Framework . Each issue contains a main topic (e.g. programming for Windows 7 , logging , aspects ), which usually consists of three to six articles on the respective topic. The heading "Current" presents current news and features interviews or references to the contents of the website www.dotnetpro.de. The rubrics " Backend ", "Core" and " Frontend " are discussed technologies and practical procedures in the different layers of an application . The "Planning" section shows how a new application should be created and how the architecture is set up for it. The Process section contains articles on continuous integration , version control systems and requirements management .

Programming examples, background knowledge and reports on new technologies for .NET developers are also included.

dotnetpro reports on the development of desktop applications ( Windows Forms , Windows Presentation Foundation , Windows 8.1 ), mobile applications ( .NET Compact Framework ), web applications ( ASP.NET , ASP.NET WepAPI, ASP.NET MVC ) and Server applications for the .NET Framework.

The source code for most of the articles is supplied on the booklet CD / DVD.
