Robert Herold

Robert Herold (born February 22, 1879 in Paris , † April 11, 1938 in Zurich ) was a Swiss lawyer and senior civil servant.

Life

Robert Herold was born as the son of the partner in Morgan Bank, Hermann Peter Herold, and Sophia Hortensia nee Wolf. After attending compulsory school in Paris, Herold studied law and political science in Zurich and at German universities and received his doctorate in 1902. rer. pole. He married Ella Iklé. From 1902 to 1904 he was secretary of the District Directorate IV of the Swiss Federal Railways in St. Gallen . From 1904 to 1917 he acted as secretary and from 1917 to 1922 as director of the administrative board of the Bodensee-Toggenburg-Bahn (BT). At the same time, Herold taught as a lecturer at the University of Zurich. From 1922 to 1926 he was director of the railway department, today's Federal Office of Transport . From 1926 to 1935, Herold was director of District III of the Swiss Federal Railways in Zurich. Herold last worked from 1935 to 1938 as a special federal commissioner for the reorganization of railway law and legislation in the field of automobile traffic . In addition, Herold took part in the international Rhine Central Commission as a Swiss delegate in 1922. He was also a member of the international Simplon delegation. Furthermore, he worked from 1923 to 1924 as an expert in the reorganization of the Austrian Federal Railway and in 1925 as an expert in the Federal Council on the construction of the Furka Railway.

Robert Herold was the father of Hans Herold .
