Doug Sweetland

Douglas "Doug" Sweetland (* in State College , Pennsylvania ) is an American animator and film director .

Life

Sweetland attended State College Area High School until 1992 and then studied character design at the California Institute of the Arts . The short films Everything That Comes Around Comes Around (1992) and Blind Spot (1993) were made while studying . He dropped out in 1994 to work at Pixar as an animator. His first job for Pixar was as an animator for the film Toy Story . Sweetland subsequently became a key figure at Pixar, as an animator or senior animator in the animation studio's first seven feature films. He has twice been honored with an Annie Award as an animator , for his work on Die Monster AG and Finding Nemo .

Sweetland made his directorial debut and debut as a screenwriter in 2008 with the short film Presto , for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film in 2009 . Between 2010 and 2012, Sweetland worked on the animated film The Familiars for Sony Pictures Animation . In 2013, Sweetland's second script work followed, the interactive Google short film Windy Day . Sweetland has been working on the animated feature film Storks since 2013 , in which he is co-director alongside Nick Stoller .
