The Pyongyang Sports Club ( Chosŏn'gŭl : 평양 시 체육 단; Hanja : 平壤 市 體育 團) is a North Korean sports organization with several sports departments. The organization is based in Pyongyang .

With football , the largest division of the club, it is represented in the DPR Korea League , the highest league in North Korea . The squad is currently worth 1.45 million euros. Pyongyang's greatest rival is April 25th SC . The derby is known as the "Pyongyang Derby". Due to the country's international isolation, very little is known about almost all North Korean clubs.

history

The association was founded on April 30, 1956 by Kim Il-sung . In October 1971, the club merged with the Moranbong Sports Club ( Chosŏn'gŭl : 모란봉 체육 단; Hanja : 牡丹峰 體育 團) and the Rodongja Sports Club ( Chosŏn'gŭl : 로동자 체육 단; Hanja: 勞動者 體育 團) . In 2006 the association celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The club was able to win the DPR Korea League five times in football in 1991, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009 . The U23 won the 2004 U23 team. Pyongyang won the trophy in 2012.
