Douglas Gough

Douglas Owen Gough ( FRS ) (born February 8, 1941 ) is a British astronomer .

Life

Gough initially studied in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge . He continued his studies at the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics with John Cox and Carl Hansen and at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies from 1967 to 1969 with Alar Toomre . From 1999 to 2004 he was director at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Cambridge, where he retired in 2008.

Gough is a member of the IAU .
