The Kulusuk Airport ( IATA code: KUS , ICAO BGKK ) is the international airport of Greenland City Kulusuk . It is located three kilometers northeast of it and in 2008 counted around 14,103 passengers and 1,691 aircraft movements. The airport is operated by the Greenland Airport Authority ( kalaallisut Mittarfeqarfiit , Danish Grønlands Lufthavnsvæsen ) and monitored by the Civil Aviation Administration.
Furnishing
The airport has a 1199 meter long and 30 meter wide gravel or gravel runway. It does not have de-icing systems, which is often a very big problem in winter, as temperatures are often in the minus range during this time of year. In the summer, however, the airport can often not handle the number of passengers. The terminal also has a small cafeteria and a duty-free stand in the departure and arrival halls.

Incidents
- On July 2, 1972, a Douglas DC-3 / C-47B of Rousseau Aviation ( aircraft registration F-WSGU ) was so damaged in an emergency landing that it was no longer possible to repair it on the remote airfield. The machine was on the transfer flight to the USA.
- On April 20, 1985, a Fokker F27-100 Friendship (YN-BZF) bought by the Nicaraguan airline Aeronica had an accident on its transfer flight from Europe to Nicaragua about 280 km west of Kulusuk Airport. After refueling in Reykjavik there were problems pumping the fuel from the additional tanks to the engines. Therefore, the crew decided to return to Kulusuk, but could not find the airfield due to bad weather. In the emergency landing in the snow near a radar station came from the five crew members of two killed (see also air accident of Aeronica in Greenland ) .
