Douglas Mackay Henderson

Douglas Mackay Henderson (born August 30, 1927 in Blairgowrie , † November 10, 2007 in Inverness ) was a British mycologist . Its botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is “ DMHend. ".

In 1948 he graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in botany. From 1951 he worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh . From 1970 to 1987 he was Regius Keeper (Director) of the Botanical Garden.

He was particularly interested in rust and smut fungi . He initiated the Flora of Bhutan Project , in the course of which over 6000 species were recorded.

In 1966 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
