Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house was built around 1680 . The design of the half-timbering was carried out with a console frieze and Taustab in the style of the late Renaissance . In addition, there are also forms typical of the Baroque, such as pyramid beam heads and diamond frameworks.

A noteworthy entrance to the house is designed as a donkey back profile . Around 1880 the house was rebuilt.

In 1989 the plan was to demolish the historical buildings in the northern part of the old town, which would also have affected the house at Dovestraße 5. However, the plans were not implemented. After the building had been vacant for 20 years, it was acquired by a new owner. The first security measures followed. From 2008 to 2010 the house was completely renovated by the architecture office qbatur and expanded into a residential building with a living space of 140 m², although large parts of the building substance from the construction period were retained. The house has a large hall on the ground floor. Glazing was added to the courtyard. In addition, a gallery level and a steel spiral staircase were created . A geothermal heat pump with underfloor and wall heating is used as heating.
