Lecturers at the Berlin University (1919–1945)
The Berlin University was the university with the most female lecturers (14) in the Weimar Republic and female lecturers (11) during the Nazi era .
It was only in the Weimar Republic that it became possible for female scientists to become a private lecturer, that is, to receive the license to teach in the habilitation process. In 1933 the designation “lecturer” was introduced, the habilitation process was separated, and the appointment of the lecturers was the responsibility of the Reich Ministry of Education after positive assessments by the lecturer in question.
