Dr. Ernst Fehrer Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dr. Ernst Fehrer Prize for Outstanding Research Achievements is a science prize, first awarded in 1982 and annually since then, in the fields of civil engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or physics. The award was donated by the inventor and industrialist Ernst Fehrer to promote technical science and is endowed with 8,000 euros.

criteria

The Dr. Ernst Fehrer Prize is awarded to a young scientist under the age of 35 who has trained at the Vienna University of Technology or who works at it . In exceptional cases, the prize can also be awarded to a group of people.

The subject of the award is new ways of solving problems in the fields of civil engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or physics. The achievements can be in constructive, experimental or theoretical areas and must have a stronger reference to practical applicability or a practical use. Developments that have already been completed cannot be taken into account.

The award is made by the Rectorate of the Vienna University of Technology on the recommendation of the selection committee. The selection committee consists of the Vice Rector for Research and the deans of the Faculties of Civil Engineering, Technical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechanical and Industrial Management, and Physics. The award is presented by the rectorate, if possible in the presence of the family of the founders, as part of an academic celebration.

The Dr. Rosemarie Fehrer presented the Ernst Fehrer Prize. She is the widow of the late Ernst Fehrer and thus honors exceptional research achievements.
