Destination of the letter

The associated standard is intended to make it possible to compare the printing performance of class 1 and 2 printers quickly and easily. Class 1 and 2 printers include type wheel printers , dot matrix printers , inkjet printers and thermal printers .

Laser printers belong to printer classes 3 and 4. This standard is therefore not suitable for comparing the printing performance of laser printers.

criticism

Nevertheless, some manufacturers of toner modules like to refer to the test template from this standard. The Dr. Grauert letter test template has a coverage ratio of just 2.8 percent. If the capacity of toner modules is specified according to this template or tested with this template, the result is capacities that are 1.8 times higher than with capacity specifications that were determined with the more practical area coverage of five percent.
