The Dr. The Rainer Wild Foundation was founded in 1991 and sees its goal in making a contribution to the continuous development of nutrition research, nutrition education and a lively eating culture. The approach should be interdisciplinary, oriented towards freedom and individuality. The target group of Dr. Rainer Wild Foundation are preferably specialists, i.e. doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists, nutritionists and scientists from other disciplines, representatives of the specialist press and other multipliers. The aim is to initiate current topics with the projects, publications and events and to promote networking and dialogue in the nutrition sector. According to the statutes, it is exclusively operational, that is, it uses its funds for its own projects.

The Heidelberg Nutrition Forum
- 2016: Eating biography as an important key to eating habits.

Dr. Rainer Wild Prize
The prize, endowed with 15,000 euros, has been awarded to extraordinary and exemplary lighthouse projects since 1993.

The European Mini Chefs award recognizes the project's contribution to nutritional education for children and the personal commitment of its founder Jürgen Mädger.

Working group for cultural research on food
From 1996 to 2014 Dr. Rainer Wild Foundation sponsor of the working group for cultural research on food. It is an association of around 60 full members and a steadily growing number of sustaining members. The members come from science, business and the general public and deal with all questions relating to food and drink on a scientific basis.
Managing directors
On July 1, 2019, Dr. Silke Lichtenstein took over the management of the foundation. Dr. Gesa Schönberger was managing director of Dr. Rainer Wild Foundation and moved to the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS). From 2016 to 2018, Dr. Monika Wilhelm takes over the management.
