Dragoljub Janošević (* 8. July 1923 in Belgrade ; † 20th May 1993 ) was a Yugoslav grandmaster in chess .

1948 Dragoljub Janošević played for the first time at the Yugoslav national championship; Overall, he came to 18 participations in the course of his career. At international tournaments in the 1950s and 60s he won victories against greats such as Michail Botwinnik , Michail Tal , Tigran Petrosjan , Bobby Fischer and Bent Larsen . However, Janošević, who was a sports journalist by profession, did not play consistently enough to advance to the top of the world. In 1964 he became international champion and won the grandmaster title a year later after finishing fifth in a well-attended tournament in Budapest in 1965.

He was considered one of the best blitz chess players in Belgrade and was also known for his blind simultaneous performances , in which he played up to 20 games at the same time.

Janošević's last Elo number was 2275, his highest Elo number of 2465 he had in May 1974 and January 1975. Before the introduction of the Elo numbers, his best historical Elo number was 2589 in March 1954, so he was 58th in the world rankings .

Janošević is one of only three players who played several games against Bobby Fischer and had a positive record. The other two are Efim Geller and Michail Tal.
