Dragoljuba Benčina

Dragoljuba Benčina (born March 17, 1950 ) is a Slovenian politician and diplomat .

Life

She studied law at the University of Ljubljana . With a scholarship from the Yugoslav Republic of Slovenia, she went to Belgrade in 1974 , where she completed training as a diplomat and internships. In addition, she passed language tests. In 1976 she went to Rome as an attaché to the Yugoslav embassy in Italy . This was followed by a deployment in Cairo , Egypt , until 1982 . She then returned to Yugoslavia and worked on the Slovenian International Cooperation Committee.

From 1997 to 2001 she was the Slovenian ambassador to Sweden . She was also ambassador to Estonia , Finland and Latvia . Until 2000 there were additional secondary accreditations in Denmark , Iceland , Lithuania and Norway . In 2004 she moved to Germany as an ambassador based in Berlin . In 2008 she became State Secretary in the Slovenian Foreign Ministry in Ljubljana . She held the office until 2012 and again from 2014 until her retirement in 2016.
